NORFOLK, VA. (AP) -- Lucienne Berthieu scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds Sunday to lead No. 16 Old Dominion past George Mason 88-65.
Berthieu led five Lady Monarchs in double figures. George Mason (7-13, 3-6 Colonial Athletic Association) was led by Shelbylynn McBride, who had a career-high 17 points.
Old Dominion (16-4, 9-0) led 31-20 after a 10-0 run with 2:28 to play in the first half but then allowed the Patriots to pull within five before pulling away again to lead 35-26 at the break.
In the second half, the Patriots cut Old Dominion's lead twice to 4 points, the last time with 17:06 left to play. But Jen Surlas, who scored 16 points for George Mason and accounted for three of the Patriots' five 3-pointers, picked up her fourth foul with 15:41 left.
After that, the Lady Monarchs went on a 14-7 run to lead 61-44 and were never seriously threatened for the remainder of the game.
Old Dominion shot 60.6 percent from the floor in the second half. Natalie Diaz scored 17 points, and Hamchetou Maiga had 12. Sharron Francis and Okeisha Howard scored 10 each.
Chrissy Todd scored 14 points for George Mason.
