The senior from Syracuse, NY's Christian Brothers school led the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring with 20 goals and four assists for 44 points en route to earning CAA Player of the Year and All CAA first team honors. He was awarded NSCAA All South Atlantic Region first team honors last week, along with Virginia SID All State first team.
"This is definitely a great honor and it puts me in an elite class,"said Tanner. "To go out like this, during my senior season, is a great feeling."
Tanner scored 31 goals over his final 31 career games to finish second on the Monarchs all-time scoring list with 76 points. His 34 goals also ranks as second-best all-time for Old Dominion, while his 11 career assists ranks in the top-ten.
Tanner helped lead the Monarchs to a 15-4-0 record, 7-1-0 in the CAA (regular season champions) and #13 national ranking, the team's first since 1991. Unfortunately however, the Monarchs were not awarded a bid by the NCAA selection committee after falling to William and Mary, 0-1, in the semifinal's of the CAA Tournament.
