SYRACUSE, NY. (December 3) -- Junior center Lucienne Berthieu (Rennes,France) scored a career high 31 points to lead the 19th ranked Lady Monarchs toa 99-60 victory over Memphis Fridayafternoon in the Syracuse Carrier Women's Basketball Tournament. Old Dominionis now 3-1 on the season and will play either host Syracuse or Northern Iowa inthe finals on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Old Dominion led at halftime, 50-28. ODU shot .543from the floor (19-35) and hit .552 in the second half (16-29). Berthieu was11-for- 13 from the floor and pulleddown six rebounds.
Sophomore Sharron Francis(Lanham, MD.) scored 11points, dished out seven assists and hauled in a careerhigh nine boards. Junior forward Hamchetou Maiga(Bamako, Mali) tied her careerhigh with 16 points. FreshmanKim Giddens (Painter, Va.) scored ten points and pulled downseven rebounds. Senior Natalie Diaz (Needles, CA.) came upwith five steals and dished out six assists.
ODU dominated the boards, outrebounding Memphis, 49-29.Every Lady Monarch got at least one rebound.
