NORFOLK, Va. (AP) (Nov. 20) - Michael Williams scored 16 points and Andre McCullum added 15 points and eight rebounds Saturday as Old Dominion jumped to an early 12-2 lead and never trailed, beating Chattanooga 77-64 in the season opener for both teams.
Clifton Jones and Skipper Youngblood each added 12 points for the Monarchs. Idris Harpe led the Moccasins with 18 points and Rashun Coleman added 15.
Old Dominion led 12-2 and held a 37-27 lead at the half. The Moccasins scored the first six points of the second half to get within 37-33, but the Monarchs scored seven of the next 10 and led by at least eight for the final 12:45.
Chattanooga hit 9 of 13 three-point shots, including 3 of 4 by Harpe, but made just 7 of 19 free throws. The Mocs also had 24 turnovers to Old Dominion's 15.
