Senior forward Jimmy Tanner (Syracuse, NY) put the Monarchs on theboard in the third minute of the game on a five yard give-and-go blast fromTooley. William and Mary immediately countered, as Garrett Chittum landed the Tribe'sfirst strike in the fourth minute on an assist from Brian Hinkey.
Then, with the scored knotted at one, Tooley dribbled the ball lefttowards the box and, with three defenders surrounding him, reversed directions andlaunched a 20 yard blast into the left side of the goal past W&M All-American keeper AdinBrown.
In the second half, the both teams had scoring opportunities. TheMonarchs, protecting the one goal lead, concentrated on the defensive side of the ball anddenied all seven of William and Mary's shots, with senior goalkeeper Chuck Connelly(Rockville, MD) making two game-winning saves in the last five minutes to secure thevictory.
