NORFOLK, Va. - The tenth-ranked Old Dominion University field hockey earned their most lopsided victory in nine years on Friday evening at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex as they routed Towson, 11-0.

The margin of victory is the most for Old Dominion (9-3, 4-0) since they defeated Towson in 2003 by an identical 11-0 margin. The win kept ODU undefeated in league play and was their sixth consecutive victory overall.

ODU scored seven first half goals and wasted little time doing so as freshman Sarah Breen scored one of her five goals on the day five minutes in on a penalty corner. Seven minutes later, redshirt junior Danielle Clutter found the back of the cage on a great pass from senior Maartje van Rijswijk, who had two assists on the evening as the Lady Monarchs moved ahead, 2-0.

Midway through the first half, sophomore Rosario Villagra cut across the circle and roped one past Towson goalkeeper Tashani Dickson from 15 yards to bump up the lead and just four minutes following that senior Kimberly Oakes scored on one of three assists on the evening from redshirt junior co-captain Christy Longacre.

Longacre was able to score herself off a penalty corner when she took the shot from Villagra on the edge of the circle to make it 5-0 towards the end of the first half. Breen found the cage again off a penalty corner set as the Lady Monarchs used a series of passes to confuse the Tiger defense at the 30-minute mark.Celine Marquet assisted the seventh goal of the first half when Villagra stole a pass deep in Towson territory and scooted it to the freshman who in turn sliced it across the front of the cage to a wide open Breen for the score.

Redshirt sophomore Nicole Goff got her fourth goal of the season to begin the second half as Villagra's initial shot whiffed but Goff was there to put it in. In the 45th minute, van Rijswijk found a streaking Breen down the right side wide open for a goal to make it 9-0.

Another corner resulted in a goal by ODU and Breen just before the 54-minute mark and Villagra capped the scoring late when Breen found her open inside the circle from 20 yards out.

Towson (0-12, 0-3) managed just one shot all game to go along with three penalty corners. Dickson had 12 saves on the night for the Tigers.

Breen had a career-high five goals and two assists to power the ODU offense while Villagra had two goals and three assists and Longacre had a goal and a career-high three assists. Senior goalkeeper Marla Petriello earned one save on the night on Towson's lone shot of the contest.

ODU outshot Towson, 36-1 and had 10-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Old Dominion continues their six-game homestand when they face off against No. 18 Drexel on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
