A native of Concorn, Delaware, Charlie Smith was inducted into the Old Dominion Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

He helped ODU to three NCAA Tournaments and led the Monarchs with 4.8 assists per game in 1984 as a junior.

He finished his ODU career with 1,206 career points and ranks 32nd in ODU's career scoring list.

Smith was inducted into the Delaware Afro-American Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
