Alan Schulte was a member of of the Old Dominion golf team where he won back-to-back Conference Championships in '84 and '85. During his career, Schulte finished eighth at the Marine Intercollegiates as a freshman. He was also named the team's Most Valuable Player in 1984. While competing for the Monarchs, Schulte also qualified as an individual for the USGA Amateur Championship

Since graduating from Old Dominion he became the Head Professional at The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club. While doing this, Shulte continued to play competitively where he won back-to-back Indiana PGA Open Championships in '05 and '06, he was also a two-time Indiana PGA Professional Champion in '00 and '05, a Southern Open Champion ('04), an Indianapolis Open Champion in '06, and a three time Indiana PGA Assistants' Champion ('98, '01, '03).

He has collected a number of state accolades that include a two-time Indiana PGA Assistant Player of the Year, and six consecutive Indiana PGA Player of the Year titles.
