Women's Tennis Hosts App State Saturday For Senior Day

NORFOLK, Va. – The 32nd-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday as the Monarchs hosts App State in its regular season finale starting at 10 a.m at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
 
Senior Day
The Senior Day recognition ceremony for Alesya Yakubovich will be held at 9:45 a.m.
 
"We are fortunate to have had Alesya on our team. Our programs success over the past five seasons could not have happened without her many contributions. Congrats to Alesya on a fantastic college tennis career at Old Dominion University," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla.

Scouting ODU
Old Dominion (14-4) closes out the regular season having won its last nine matches. The Monarchs are coming off a two-match road swing last weekend when they defeated Coastal Carolina (5-2) and Georgia Southern (4-0) to clinch at least a share of the regular season crown. Shahar Biran and Alexandra Viktorovitch lead the team in spring wins with 11 each, Biran is 11-2 while Viktorovitch is 11-3. Tatsiana Sasnouskaya is 10-3 at line one singles and 5-0 in conference play, while Yakubovich and Sofia Johnson each have nine wins. In doubles, Johnson and Sasnouskaya are 10-2 to lead the team this spring.
 
Scouting App State
The Mountaineers are 12-6 and 8-2 in league play after defeating Marshall (4-3) and Radford (5-0) last weekend. Savannah Dadamascoll leads the team in singles wins this spring with a 13-2 mark mainly at line two. Helena Jensen is the other player with double digit wins going 10-6 mainly at line one. In doubles, Dadamascoll and Ellie Murphy are 6-4 at line one, while Maggie Pate and Virginia Poggi are 6-2 mainly at line three.
 
Series History
This is the third meeting all-time between ODU and App State with the Monarchs winning both prior matches. In 2018, ODU won 6-1 at home and in 2017 they won 7-0 also at home.
