Allen Selected First Team All-State by VaSID

NORFOLK, Va. – Graduate guard Iggy Allen of the Old Dominion women's basketball team was honored as First Team All-State by Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), the organization announced on Thursday.
 
Allen earned First Team All-Conference USA honors in her lone season as a Monarch, averaging 15.2 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game – marks that ranked sixth and seventh in the conference, respectively. Additionally, she ranked top-15 in the conference with 1.8 steals per game and 1.6 made 3-pointers per game.
 
The native of Pompano Beach, Florida was fifth in C-USA with 10 20-point outings, including a season-high 29 in a win at UAB, and had seven 10-rebound games to her name, including a pair of 15-rebound outings in wins over Auburn and Norfolk State. Allen logged seven double-doubles on the year to rank fourth in Conference USA.
 
Four different programs were represented on the list of major honors. Akila Smith of Longwood was voted the Player of the Year, William & Mary's Dani McTeer was the Rookie of the Year, Virginia Tech's Elizabeth Kitley was the Defensive Player of the Year, and Liberty's Carey Green was named Coach of the Year.
 
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
