DALLAS – Conference USA selected Iggy Allen as its first Women's Basketball Player of the Week of the season, the organization announced on Monday afternoon. Allen averaged a double-double over two games as the Monarchs opened the season with a pair of wins.
A guard from Pompano Beach, Florida, Allen posted averages of 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting .433 from the floor and 5-of-8 (.625) from 3-point range.
She shared the team highs in points (15) and rebounds (seven) and came away with three steals in ODU's 80-52 win over South Carolina State on Tuesday and followed up with a 21-point, 15-rebound double-double as the Monarchs knocked off Auburn 57-44 at home on Sunday.
Against the Tigers, Allen shot 3-of-6 from deep, finished a game with 20-plus points for the 13th time in her career and posted the 12th double-double of her career. She personally outscored Auburn in the decisive third quarter with nine points as the Monarchs outscored Auburn 22-8 to turn a two-point halftime deficit into a 12-point advantage.
Allen collects player of the week honors from C-USA for the third time in her career, doing so twice at Florida Atlantic last season.
