Five Former and Current ODU Sailors Place at Miami Olympic Class Regatta

MIAMI, FL -Five former and current Old Dominion University sailors placed last week at the 16th Annual Rolex Miami Olympic Class Regatta, held on the waters of Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL. During the five-day event, 320 sailors representing 26 countries competed in nine Olympic and two Paralympic classes. Former sailors Charlie Ogletree, Sally Barkow and Debbie Capozzi took gold medals, while current senior Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH) took a silver medal.

 

Tornado Class:

-Former sailor Charlie Ogletree (Class of 1989), a Silver Medalist in the Athens Olympics, took the gold medal along with John Lovell in the Tornado class, with 5.00 points.

 

Yngling Class:

-Former Monarchs Sally Barkow (Class of 2002) and Debbie Capozzi (Class of 2003) teamed up with Carrie Howe to take the gold in the Yngling Class with 22 points.

 

Laser Class:

-Former Monarch Brad Funk (Class of 2002) took the Laser gold with 20.00 points.

 

Radial Class:

-Current Senior Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH) took the silver in the Radial class, placing behind American Paige Railey, with 20.00 points.
