NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion’s Lacrosse’s McKenzie Raech has been named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week along with Sarah Murrell being named Freshman of the Week, as announced by the AAC Monday.
Raech earns Defensive Player of the Week for a second consecutive week and the third time this season. She secured two draw controls in a 20-4 win over Howard, limiting the Bison to only 12 shots. Against Mount St. Mary’s, the defender from Wallingford, Pennsylvania caused two turnovers and collected two ground balls in a 9-8 loss.
Sarah Murrell racked up 10 goals and two assists this week. Murrell ranks seventh in the AAC in scoring so far this season. In both games, she led all players in scoring, netting five goals against Howard and five against Mount St. Mary’s. The freshman out of Perryville, Maryland leads ODU with 26 goals and 28 total points.
Alex Kulinski was an Honorable Mention after scoring four goals, dishing one assist, and causing three turnovers for the Monarchs this week where ODU went 1-1.
Old Dominion (6-3) will be in action on Wednesday, Mar. 15 at noon vs. Charlotte.
