NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s tennis dropped its contest against Duke on the first day of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
The Monarchs fell to the Blue Devils with a final score of 4-0. In the doubles matches, Duke duo Cooper Williams and Andreja Petrovic bested Adam Majchrzak and Cosme Rolland De Ravel 6-2, while teammates Remy Dugardin and Connor Krug beat ODU’s Yanis Moundir and Yanis Nelson in a hard-fought 6-4 match. The remaining doubles match was suspended, which included brothers Codie and Connor Van Schalkwyk against Pedro Rodenas and Theo Winegar, which was tied 5-5.
Krug continued on, beating Moundir in a singles match (6-3, 7-6) while Petrovic was victorious over Codie Van Schalkwyk (6-3, 6-4). In the final match of the day, Dugardin bested Majchrzak (7-6, 6-2) to give Duke the sweep. ODU’s Connor Van Schalkwyk’s match against Williams (6-7, 1-5) was suspended, as well as Rolland De Ravel versus Rodenas (6-4, 0-6, 1-1) and Jean-Karim Oliver De Sardan versus Saahith Jayaraman (2-6, 5-4).
