NORFOLK, Va. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams were announced earlier this week and Old Dominion had four student-athletes recognized.
Representing the Monarchs this year are Ashlynn Belcher, Elisa Maggi, Myah Conway and Kate Kilpatrick.
Selected by College Sports Communicators, the Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Eligibility requirements for volleyball include earning at least a 3.5 grade point average, compete in 90 percent of their team's matches or start in at least 66% of the team’s matches. Liberos, although not counted in stats as a starter, were counted as such for nominating purposes. Nominees must have also completed one full calendar year at their institution and be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Jan. 14.
