NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion wrestling team (4-9, 0-4 MAC) remains in the top 20 tournament rankings by InterMat and WIN Magazine heading into February while five Monarchs are in the top 20 individually.
Brandon Jeske remains No. 19 by WIN Magazine at 125 despite falling to Missouri’s No. 10 Barlow McGhee, 6-3, Sunday, while Chris Mecate remains as high as No. 10 by The Open Mat after suffering a 4-1 setback against the Tigers’ No. 8 Matt Manley. Alexander Richardson is ranked seventh by The Open Mat and WIN Magazine after narrowly dropping a 2-1 decision against Mizzou’s No. 3 Lavion Mayes.
Jack Dechow, who comes in as high as No. 3 at 184 by The Open Mat, picked up a dominating 14-4 major decision over Missouri’s Cody Johnston last weekend. On Friday, Dechow will likely prepare for a top 20 showdown against Navy’s No. 15 Mathew Miller.
ODU hosts Navy on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Ted Constant Center before traveling to Athens, Ohio to take on the Ohio Bobcats on Sunday at noon.
