NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s tennis returns home to host South Alabama and Southern Miss at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center this weekend.
The Monarchs face off against the Jaguars on Friday, March 21 at 1 p.m. while their match against the Golden Eagles begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 23.
Old Dominion is coming off of three straight road games where the team went 2-1 after downing Troy (5-1) and Georgia State (4-1), but fell 4-0 to No. 29 Georgia Tech. The Monarchs remain 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play and are 9-3 overall, placing 41st in the ITA as a team.
South Alabama sits at 10-3 overall and 3-1 in SBC play after going 1-1 last weekend, where the Jaguars defeated App. State 4-3 but fell to Marshall 4-0. Southern Miss is 4-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play after falling to Marshall and App. State last weekend by respective 4-0 and 4-1 scores.
Sofia Johnson places 13th in the nation with an 8-2 singles record. In ODU’s road trip, she downed Troy’s Gabrielle Leslie 7-5, 6-3, though fell to Georgia Tech’s Scarlett Nicholson 6-3, 6-3.
