NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's golf head coach Mallory Kane has announced the signing of Ludovica Girola as part of the team's 2025 recruiting class. Girola will join the Monarchs next fall.

"Ludovica will be a great addition to our team,” said Kane. “She’s incredibly smart and plans to study engineering. Ludovica is competitive, mature and enjoys being a part of a team. We look forward to welcoming her next fall!"

A native of Como, Italy, Girola has posted five Top-10 finishes so far in 2024, to include placing first at the T.G.F. WAGR Albarella with a three-under par 141 on Feb. 12-14. She carded a 226 to place fourth at the Conca d’Oro on March 8-10 and tied for seventh at the Italian U18 Trofeo Silvio Marazza on May 11-13 with a score of 298. Girola tied for fifth at the Italian National Championship Cadette on July 2-6 and came in 10th at the 4th Iservice Open Championship Citta di Treviso on July 12-14 after turning in a 54-hole total of 219. She is currently listed 2,150th by World Amateur Golf Ranking.

On why she chose ODU, Girola said, “I can study my passion at a high level, which is naval and civil engineering. It’s a very renowned university for research, especially in the naval field, it’s in a wonderful location and the team has great players.”
