NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its 2024 Volleyball Awards and All-Conference Teams on Wednesday and Myah Conway has been named to the league's All-Conference Second Team. The honors were voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
It marks the fourth year in a row Conway has garnered postseason accolades. She earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team in 2021 and was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team in 2022 and 2023.
“Congratulations to Myah on her all-conference selection. She was a force at the net for us again this season and certainly deserves recognition. More impressive is the work she did prior to preseason to prepare for her senior campaign. We will miss her and look forward to her next chapter,” said ODU Head Coach Fred Chao.
The Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania native started all 27 matches for ODU this season, ranked second in the conference with 369 kills (3.39 per set) and 412.5 total points, and led the Monarchs with a .302 hitting percentage. She scored double-digit kills 22 times and added four assists, one ace, 88 digs and 79 blocks (six solo) to her season totals. In conference play, she hit .254 with 201 kills (3.47 per set), one assist, one ace, 63 digs, 41 blocks (three solo), and 224 points.
Conway was named to the Quest for the Crown All-Tournament Team after scoring 30 kills (3.33 per set) while swinging for a .519 clip in matches against Marist, UTSA and Virginia. She also made 10 blocks and had six digs throughout the tournament. Conway was named Tournament MVP of the Old Dominion Invitational after scoring 43 kills (3.91 per set) while hitting .388 against Rutgers, Radford and UMES.
Troy’s Tori Hester was voted this season’s Player of the Year as well as the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year. Arkansas State’s Daedriana Cail was selected Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, teammate Sarah Martinez earned Libero of the Year, and the Red Wolves’ Brian Gerwig was tabbed Coach of the Year. Setter of the Year honors went to Texas State’s Ryan Torres, and this season’s Freshman of the Year is App State’s Elise Marchal.
